MARATHON COMMUNITY THEATRE
Marathon Community Theatre is a non-profit, community theater that has been an essential part of the cultural life of Marathon and the Florida Keys since 1944. Our mission is to produce engaging, inspiring, high quality theatrical productions that entertain our diverse community of local citizens, seasonal residents and large tourist population; train and support the next generation of theatre artists; provide arts education programs that promote life-long learning to our local community; and celebrate the essential power of the arts to illuminate our common humanity.
Marathon Community Theatre presents live theatre, art exhibits, and hosts cultural meetings for the Florida Keys community. Each Theatre Season, we offer four main-stage productions, intimate gallery readings, a Children’s Summer Theatre program, an annual community dance showcases, annual holiday shows and more. Some of the artists who have held exhibits in our gallery space, in conjunction with our main stage shows, include Tim Borski, Michelle Nicole Lowe, Julie Joyce and the Florida Keys Watercolor Society. We offer free Dance Classes to all of our theatre members, which currently includes Tap, Lyrical, Jazz/Theatre, Cuban Salsa, Carolina Shag, Bollywood, Belly dance and more. We also house the only movie theatre for 50 miles, right in the heart of paradise.
