Follow the light to IGNITE, Broward’s new family-friendly immersive art experience featuring exciting interactive video and light installations created by leading contemporary artists and designers.

Broward County Cultural Division presents the second annual art and light festival, IGNITE.

Daily from 10 am – 8 PM, captivating indoor video, light and design exhibitions by artists and designers David Carson, Susan Narduli and Edison Penafiel will be on display at MAD Arts in Dania Beach (481 S. Federal Highway), with timed reservations available here

Nightly from 6 – 10 PM, downtown Fort Lauderdale will come alive with spectacular outdoor digital art, light and 3D projections at the Museum of Discovery & Science’s atrium (401 SW 2 St.) and in Esplanade Park (400 SW 2 St.).

Everyone is invited to attend the IGNITE Broward kickoff in Esplanade Park and the Museum of Discovery & Science’s atrium on Wednesday, January 26. The event will feature food trucks and Broward County Mayor Michael Udine will activate the art at 6 PM.

Coinciding with Fort Lauderdale Art & Design Week, IGNITE Broward builds on the Cultural Division’s ‘Light the Night’ festival, which took place in March 2021. Now, with a new name, expanded roster of artists and mediums, and new locations, IGNITE Broward is sure to become a must-see annual event.

IGNITE Broward is presented by Broward Cultural Division and is produced by the creative solutions firm, MAD. It incorporates innovative technology to create new site-specific artworks by international and local artists. Additional support comes from Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale, Visit Lauderdale, Museum of Discovery & Science and the City of Fort Lauderdale.

Join award-winning Los Angeles-based artist and architect Susan Narduli for a talk in which she will discuss the evolution of her concept of public space, as well as new tools for placemaking and expression.

One of the night-time activations to take place inside the gazebo at Esplanade Park, where artist Marcell Andristyak, with Glowing Bulbs and sound design by Abel Szakacs, will create an interactive experience for visitors. Nightly from 6-10PM on Wednesday through Sunday, Jan. 26-30, 2022.

Above: States of Matter, by Susan Narduli, will feature a mirrored installation for visitors of all ages to be enveloped in a light-based transcendent immersive art experience. Daily at MAD Arts in Dania Beach from 10AM – 8PM.

Above: Pupae Mesh, in the tree area in Esplanade Park, will feature a network of cooperating light objects created by the internationally-renowned artist collective Glowing Bulbs (established 1998, Budapest, Hungary) is inspired by the complete metamorphosis of a caterpillar, and features giant animated cocoons that communicate with each other and viewers through sensors and programming with integrated LEDs and speakers generating pulses, movement and dynamism.
