South Florida Symphony Orchestra opens the 22nd season with both symphony and song. Samuel Barber’s “lyric rhapsody” for orchestra and soprano, Knoxville: Summer of 1915, reflects on a child’s summer evening spent with family in Tennessee. This dreamy work, based on one of the great pieces of American poetry of the same name, is performed regularly all over the world.
