Psychosis

Body & Soul Dance Theatre has a long history of creating original works that provoke and titillate. Most performances sway the audience with a desire to join the action. This season?s performance will do nothing less, but this time, compulsion will be tempered by awareness.

This season Body & Soul Dance Theatre presents Psychosis, a journey through the minds and lives of three psychiatric patients, told predominantly through dance with the assistance of videos and monologues. Psychosis is a discussion through movement between the audience and the dancers about those individuals who fall outside the easy expectations of society. Some times the story will be told by flowing movements and camaraderie. Other times the story will be told through jagged lines and isolation. There will dark and light notes intended to spark awareness and curiosity.

The intent is awareness about ourselves, about those we love and about a portion of our population who are so often misunderstood. Psychosis will attempt to give depth to a topic that we as a society are too often afraid to talk about.
