Program 3: Black Lives Matter

Program 3 presents the music of African American music advocate Antonin Dvorak and his protegee African American composer Harry Burleigh along with the world premier of living American composer Marie Douglas’ new work about Trayvon Martin.

This program features the first of our world premieres by African American local composer Marie Douglas.  Her first project as part of the SFCE Emerging Artist Coalition is a work about Trayvon Martin.  Other works include Dvorak’s Ninth Symphony which was inspired by African American spirituals and From the Southland by Dvorak’s  protegée, African American composer Harry Burleigh.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for students and seniors and free for children 12 and under with paid adult ticket.
