Program 2: Income Inequality

Program 2 features the music of English composers and writers who spend part of their careers in poverty, including Elgar, Holst, Dickens and Emily Dickinson.

Our annual Spirit of Giving holiday program is about poverty and features music and lyrics by English composers and writers.  Works include Dicken’s A Christmas Carol by Alec Rowley, Holst’s St. Paul’s Suite, Elgar’s Light of Life, Samuel Coleridge Taylor’s African Suite and How do I Love thee by Maude Valerie White.  In the live program notes given from the stage learn about each composer’s connection to poverty and how they were able to overcome income inequality.
