This workshop is designed to teach students the fundamentals of letterpress printing while they design and print their own greeting cards. In the first session students will learn how to create a design on the computer to be made into a plate and where to order the plates from. Then we will order the plates and print them on our Vandercook printing presses during the second session. The new printers will experience the collaborative nature of the craft and leave with a stack of their own
This workshop is designed to teach students the fundamentals of letterpress printing while they design and print their own greeting cards. In the first session students will learn how to create a design on the computer to be made into a plate and where to order the plates from. Then we will order the plates and print them on our Vandercook printing presses during the second session. The new printers will experience the collaborative nature of the craft and leave with a stack of their own letterpress printed cards and the resources to continue printing. *Participants will need to have a basic understanding and access to either adobe illustrator, indesign or photoshop.
This class will certify you to use our Vandercook presses during open studio hours.
