As one of the rock era’s most distinctive voices, John Mellencamp ruled supreme during the '80s with iconic hits like “Jack & Diane” and best-selling albums like Scarecrow, named one of the best albums of the decade by Rolling Stone. With his raw-edged, high-energy voice and persona and a repertoire of original songs that touch upon every aspect of everyday life, Mellencamp’s concerts provide ticket holders with an unforgettable, visceral experience that resonates long after the show is over. Today, with a brand new album in the works, Mellencamp plans to embark on a massive world tour in 2014. After the success of his 2010 album No Better Than This, the artist has high hopes for his next release, which will include original material as well as collaborative work with legendary songwriter-producer T Bone Burnett. Under the name Johnny Cougar, Mellencamp kicked off his professional career with MCA Records in 1976. By 1982, his fifth album, American Fool, was a best-seller, thanks to mega-hits “Jack & Diane” and “Hurts So Good.” He followed this up with a string of hit album, including Scarecrow. A committed activist concerned with the plight of American farmers, Mellencamp joined forces with Neil Young and Willie Nelson to launch Farm Aid in 1985. By the 1990s, he had dropped Cougar and continued to produce pivotal albums such as Dance Naked. A Grammy-award winner and multiple nominee, Mellencamp was given the Billboard Century Award in 2001 and the Woody Guthrie Award in 2004.
