Sound and Vision: African-American Composers
The FIU Festival of Bands will culminate in a side-by-side concert with participating high school bands and the FIU Wind Ensemble in a continuation of the series, “Sound & Vision: “African-American Composers.”
Presented in celebration of Black History month, this concert focuses on the profound contribution of African-American composers within the field of classical music including “Red Clay, Mississippi Delta” by Valerie Coleman, “White Only, Colored Only” by Carlos Simon, among other provoking works. Directed by Brenton F. Alston.
