Traffic to Florida and its natural and man-made wonders exploded in the late 1950s. Enterprising locals devised a host of ways to profitably entertain Broward’s guests: sightseeing boats, Indian villages, botanical parks, aquatic attractions, historic sites, amusement parks, zoos, novelty shows, gambling casinos and spectator sports. Industries sprang up around the needs of yachtsmen, fisherman, hunters, golfers, swimmers, divers, auto racers and gawkers.
