In partnership with Broward County’s Port Everglades, the Broward Cultural Division’s Public Art & Design Program seeks to commission one artist or artist-led team to design, fabricate and install one or more pieces of exterior art for the Grand Plaza of Cruise Terminal 25. Investing over $100 million in the overhaul of Cruise Terminal 25 – Royal Caribbean’s preferred berth – Port Everglades will house the celebrated cruise line’s newest ships in word-class style. Reinforcing the aesthetics of Royal Caribbean’s high-tech cruise ships, the exterior artwork of Cruise Terminal 25 will draw inspiration from the Celebrity Edge SM. Bringing the outside in, the cutting-edge ship redefines the cruise experience for today’s global travelers.
Attracting pedestrian and vehicular traffic, the open-air Grand Plaza – whose covered entryway measures 15 feet and 10 inches in height – is ideal for weather-resistant artwork designed for daylight viewing. Artwork may be attached to – or suspended from – the Grand Plaza’s ceiling structure or placed along a six-foot-wide walkway leading to the ground-floor lobby of Cruise Terminal 25.
Total Budget – $125,000
