THE ELASTIC MIND

The South Gallery, located on Broward College South Campus, will be hosting an art exhibition entitled The Elastic Mind in late Spring 2023. This exhibition will showcase digital and video artworks by artists from around the globe.

Artists are invited and encouraged to submit new or existing digital art and video works which creatively address or relate to the show’s theme and concept.

The Elastic Mind refers to the psychological term which notes the ability to think non-linearly and be fluid to survive in times of rapid change and uncertainty. In other words, to “have the capacity to let go of comfortable ideas and become accustomed to ambiguity and contradiction, the capability to rise above conventional mindsets and reframe the questions we ask, the ability to abandon our ingrained assumptions and open ourselves to new paradigm, the propensity to rely on imagination as much as on logic and to generate and integrate a wide variety of ideas, and the willingness to experiment and be tolerant of failure.” (Mlodinow, 2018)

We will accept submissions until September 30th, 2022.  All submissions will be considered. Artworks must be original, and all music or images used should be copyright free or have rights purchased by artist, if needed.

Artists should email Kohl King at kking2@broward.edu with:

1. The title of work and date created

2. A direct secure link of work to be considered (google drive, website, vimeo, etc) .

3. Attach CV and short Bio

4. Attach artist statement

There is no fee to apply. All work will be shown on flat screen monitors and/ or projected in the gallery. Accepted artists will receive full credit for their work with name and contact information posted with work displayed.
