The pandemic has created a physically distanced world that has challenged Miami artists in unprecedented ways. They responded by experimenting with virtual exhibitions, tours, talks and performances. Their innovation, creativity and adaptiveness has reshaped how art is created and presented, capturing the interest of diverse audiences.
We launched Knight New Work 2020 today — an open call for Miami-area artists to create new works of music, dance and theatre — to support artists who are reimagining the performing arts in ways that envision a new post pandemic norm.
Along with receiving $10,000 prizes, this year’s cohort of winners will be connected to a mentor network of national figures in the performing arts. A few of the winning projects will be selected for further funding to support the complete production and premiere of their work.
We encourage you to apply and/or share this opportunity with your local arts network as we work together to create new ways forward for Miami artists during the pandemic. For more information about applying for New Work, please click here or visit kf.org/newwork2020.
