IMPRESSIONS: THE NEW AESTHETIC honors the legacy of Frederic and Evelyn Bartlett’s artistic creativity and appreciation for art of all genres. Presented by Bonnet House Museum & Gardens, the event is Fort Lauderdale’s preeminent exhibition of modern and contemporary original work from South Florida in a variety of media including painting, photography and mixed media.
THE IMPRESSIONS exhibition opens with an immersive art affair for new and experienced collectors alike, featuring interactive sensory experiences replete with engaging art installations, video projections, live painters, musicians, performance art, and irresistible edibles and elixirs.

• Artists must be 18 years old or older.
• Submissions are limited to three (3) pieces.
• Original works only. No giclee’s will be considered.
• Open concept. Media accepted: Painting, Fiber,
Printmaking, Digital, Photography, Installation, Mixed
Media. Sculptures or 3D art will not be considered.
• Works must be suitable for wall hanging.
• Art may not exceed 30”any direction, frame included.
• Submissions are final: prices + titles may not change.
• Works must have been created within the past 3 years.
• Artwork should be valued between $500 and $2,500.
Entries will be juried based on the application, originality
and concept. Our curatorial board will evaluate the
artworks based on four criteria: 1) Aesthetics, originality
and creative vision 2) Research, impact factor and
critical thinking 3) Technical skills 4) Saleability
*Judges will have complete discretion in selecting
the winners, except for the People’s Choice award.
ABOUT THE JURY
Patricia A. Watson, PhD. was a founder, President of the Board and Executive Director of the Riverdale Art Center in Riverdale, New Jersey, a non-profit art gallery and art education center in. She worked closely with local philanthropists and William Paterson University to establish the center and help emerging artists from that school and the local area to exhibit and sell their art.
She oversaw the renovation of a 19th-century factory to house the art center and gallery and mounted and marketed exhibitions on a monthly basis. She organized three very well attended “Art of Food” festivals that included local chefs, plein air painting and exhibitions, silent auctions, music, dinner and dancing.
Denyse Cunningham has been a professional curator of historical collections for over 30 years. She began her curation work after completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art from the State University of New York at Oswego. She later earned a Master’s Degree in American and New England Studies from the University of Southern Maine. She has worked in museums and archives in New York, Illinois, Massachusetts and Maine. For the past 20 years Denyse has worked with collections throughout southeast Florida and has been with Bonnet House Museum & Gardens for 10 years.
Sophie Bonet is a curator and multimedia artist based in Miami. She discovered her passion for curating when assisting at the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art (MABCA). Sophie is the former director of Village Design Art Gallery (Fort Lauderdale) where she curated an exhibition per month during the period of 2016 – 2018.
In 2017 she founded Arts Des Femmes, an all-female touring exhibition and collective of local and international artists of all disciplines. Now, Sophie is the Curator and Programs Manager for ArtServe – an award-winning arts incubator where she curates exhibits on a monthly basis at their facility and in gallery spaces across Broward County and Miami.
