Overseeing the daily operation of costume facilities, the full-time position of Costume Shop Manager manages the Arts and Museum Administration’s year-round costuming activities. Fostering a positive shop environment with the help of the design faculty, this position maintains, organizes and manages all costume equipment, stock and facilities. Handling the technical labor and skilled sewing of the shop over each season’s eight to ten shows, this position is responsible for all technical and practical aspects of costume creation, alternation and maintenance. Instructional duties of this position include teaching one introductory undergraduate course each year. In addition to being deeply committed to university-level teaching and training, applicants must have a background in costume construction and innovation, at least one year of experience in managing a costume shop and a Master of Fine Arts in Costume Technology or Costume Design.
