Broadway is in the house! Join us for Broadway Idol, where local performers belt out their best Broadway showtune in front of an audience for three celebrity Theatre Directors. It’s a rare opportunity for musical theatre actors and aspiring singers to “audition” for New York Broadway Director/Choreographer 2017 Tony Awardee Baayork Lee (A Chorus Line), Writer/Director Tony Honoree Gerard Alessandrini (Forbidden Broadway, Spamilton) and Carbonell Award Winning Director/Choreographer Ron Hutchins. Auditioners and the audience will love hearing the judges’ valuable feedback and encouragement. Hosted by American Idol finalist LaKisha Jones.
We invite performers, aged 18 and up, to participate. Please send us a video (use private setting if the video is housed on a public platform like YouTube) of you singing 30 seconds of your best Broadway show tune. Selection can be sung either with accompaniment (tracks or live) or a cappella. Video quality does not matter – a camera phone is fine. From our pool of submissions, up to 30 people will be chosen on the basis of their video to participate in Broadway Idol in person on July 23. Deadline to apply is July 10, but applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis. Applying early gives applicants the best chance of acceptance.
This competition is free to enter and to participate – there is absolutely no cost involved.
