The motto “Where community celebrates culture,” is what makes Westfield Broward Mall stand out from the pack.
This central Broward shopping mall embraces culture in more ways than one with weekly scheduled events, movie nights, and so forth. The mall runs a gallery dedicated to exhibiting works by local artists, rotating shows throughout the year.
Just recently, Westfield Broward took their powerful motto to the next level, having it tell the story behind their Inside Out project, a global public art movement.
Early this month, the mall installed its Inside Out project on an exterior façade with faces featuring their diverse mall clientele and employees. The result is a large-scale photographic collage comprised of fun and expressive portraits that not only tell a story, but overall celebrates diversity.
Andrew Martineau, marketing director of Westfield Broward, shared his enthusiasm saying that their Inside Out installation spawned a fury of social media posts.
“People love it,” he said. “A number of people have been taking pictures in front of it and posting it on their social media channels. It’s been awesome!”
Joining the Inside Out movement, is in itself a special storytelling experience, that speaks to the world on so many powerful subjects. And no installation is similar; they each allow the action groups to uniquely express themselves.
“I think we are the first shopping center in the world to participate,” observed Martineau. “And the installation really shows the diversity of our customers and mall employees. Almost every demographic is represented, from old to young, black to white to Hispanic to Asian, Muslim, gay, transgender.”
