Since 2018 ceramics is my primary studio practice.  For me, the expressive quality of ceramics comes from directly working in clay,  drawing in three-dimensions with the clay.   Each stage of the process from forming the wet clay to glazing offers creative challenges.  My work explores the dualities of clay and form, interior and exterior, line and shape, wet and dry, malleable and hard, open closed, male and female.
Prior to working in clay, my art practice focused on fresco painting and oil painting. An image of one of my frescoes is reproduced in the  3rd edition of  Gateway to the Arts, a  leading art appreciation textbook used in colleges and advanced placement courses,  Published by Thames & Hudson.  Public collections: Farnsworth Museum, Citibank, Fanny Mae,  Baltimore Museum,
Residencies:  Watershed Center for Ceramics, Arrowmont Center for Crafts, Penland,  Virginia Center for the Arts, Weir Farm National Park, Skowhegan.  Studied: M.A., Hunter College, B.F.A., School of Visual Arts, Skowhegan School of Painting, Art Students League.
