Stephanie McMillan, a third-generation Fort Lauderdale resident, earned a BFA in 1987 at Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. She spent many years as an award-winning and widely-published cartoonist, producing editorial cartoons, comic strips, children’s books and graphic novels. Her work in comics has been exhibited in galleries, museums and shows around the country, and her papers are archived at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum at Ohio State University.

She is currently an Artist-in-Residence at the New River Inn Museum at History Fort Lauderdale, where she creates paintings and drawings inspired by local plants and wildlife. The collection, called “Zone 10b” (the climate zone of the coastal tropics), combines affectionate humor with the bright colors of sunny Florida. Her greeting cards and prints can be found locally in the gift shops of the NSU Museum and the Riverside Hotel, as well as at her studio, which is open to the public noon-4pm daily.
