About Fort Lauderdale High School’s Visual Arts Department:

Fort Lauderdale High School is the oldest high school in Broward County, celebrating its Centennial back in the year 2010. Located just North of downtown, Fort Lauderdale High is an inner-city school that serves a diverse student body and provides several advanced programs including the Law Magnet, Advanced Placement, and Cambridge studies. FLHS is ranked in the top 10% schools in Broward County and the top
5% in the Nation.

The Fort Lauderdale Visual Arts Program proudly presents “Transformation”. TRANSFORMATION is defined as a thorough or dramatic change in form, appearance, functioning, or character. Change can take place spontaneously or over an extended period of time and can be found in every disciple from music to mathematics.

The students in the show represent some of the different visual arts courses taught at
FLHS including Drawing 1 and 2, Painting 1 and 2. Throughout the different
pieces you will see a diverse approach in style, use of media, and “voice” – that is- what
idea the student is trying to express in their work.
