Bass Museum of Art

The Bass Museum has the most encyclopedic art collection in the region. The permanent collection now includes some 3,000 works of art. The museum offers an annual schedule of exhibitions that draw on its own holdings as well as loans from other institutions and private collections. Like the collections of the Bass Museum of Art, the temporary exhibitions are encyclopedic in range. The Bass Museum also offers lectures, film and video series, music and dance performances, open houses and educational symposia on a regular basis.

John Bass's father had been a counselor to Franz Joseph, whose long reign over the Austro-Hungarian Empire encompassed the end of the Biedermeier period.
