Design Fair at the Gallery of Amazing Things
Gallery of Amazing Things
June 21-June 23, 2013
Visitors to Design Fair at Gallery of Amazing Things will have the rare experience of viewing one the finest and most elusive of Leonardo da Vinci’s sculptured masterpieces to be publicly offered for sale this century.
Inspired by da Vinci who is considered the father of design, Design Fair, which is scheduled for June 21 -23 in Dania Beach, will be a weekend of discovery like no other organizers said.
“We invite the public to see and purchase impressive collections of contemporary art, estate jewelry, watches, vintage Louis Vuitton trunks sculpture, natural history, antiques, posh lighting, furniture, home décor and much more—all with an emphasis on great design,” said Arron Rimpley of The Gallery of Amazing Things.
50-million-year-old fossil murals, maritime artifacts, aviart, antique ceramics, high porcelain, monumental crystals from the caves of South America, World War II naval binoculars are among the other wonders from around the world that will be on display.
The highlight of Design Fair will be the unveiling of a limited edition bronze sculpture derived from a rare wax model carved by the engineer of the Italian Renaissance, Leonardo da Vinci.
“In the chronicles of world history, few names command the worldwide recognition, respect, and awe as inventor, architect, astronomer, scientist and artist Leonardo da Vinci,” said Gregg Whittecar of The Gallery of Amazing Things. “Recent exhibitions of da Vinci’s work have caused an international groundswell of interest in Leonardo’s sculptural works.”
Da Vinci’s “Horse and Rider” was originally inherited by Leonardo’s star pupil, Francesco Metzi. The sculpture languished in a Swiss vault until 1985 when it was inspected by the greatest Leonardo da Vinci expert in the world, Professor Carlo Pedretti, best known as the Armand Hammer Director of Leonardo Studies at the University of California in Los Angeles. Upon extensive examination of the sculpture model, Professor Pedrettie stated in writing: "In my opinion, this wax model is by Leonardo himself."
A preview for the sculpture will be held at the Gallery on June 21 at 6pm. Guests are urged to RSVP by calling (954) 654-7739 or visiting www.galleryamazing.com.

EXCEPTIONALLY ABLED
World and Eye Arts Center
June 29-July 27, 2013
National Art Exhibitions by the Mentally Ill Holds 25th Annual Exhibition in Broward County.
World and Eye Arts Centers' mission of revealing world issues through the arts is joined by NAEMI (the National Art Exhibits by the Mentally Ill) for this unique exhibit of depth and power. Featuring six Hispanic artists, “Exceptionally Abled” shows the work of people who despite the handicap of mental illness have become extraordinary artists. The mentally ill are walking next to us as co-workers, friends, sometimes in our own families and yet there is still shame and stigma from the outside world. When looking at the work, however, no viewer will be able to deny the skill and sensitivity of the artists involved. Perhaps the pain endured allows the artists to be unafraid to reveal parts of the human condition. Juan Martin, the founder of NAEMI and collector of this work states “our ultimate goal is to help these artists be recognized and fight the stigma that so often accompanies mental illness. Featured in the show are Ramon Losa, Isaac Crespo, Gabriel Fernandez, Sabastian Ferreira, Peyi and Boris Lopez. All artworks featured in the exhibition will be available for sale, with the proceeds benefiting the artists and NAEMI’s goals of helping artists from around the world.
