Studio 18 In The Pines

The Fine Art Rental “Studio 18” is located on the Howard C. Forman Human Services Campus on the northwest corner of University Drive and Pembroke Road. Originally built in the 1950’s as a hospital laundry, Studio 18 in the Pines, has been renovated and now provides affordable art studios and exhibition space for mid career and accomplished artists. The 11,000 square-foot building is home to two large classrooms which are used for community art workshops and classes, and 18 artist studios and a main gallery which will feature the work of artists renting space at the studio and exhibitions at Studio 18 also include the work of non studio artists.

    The Sincerity Project STUDIO 18 IN THE PINES The Sincerity Project Presented by Studio 18 In The Pines at STUDIO 18 IN THE PINES June 1, 2012 The Sincerity Project 2012, curated by Jill Slaughter is the second annual exhibition to showcase the work of established artists that have lent their work to be interpreted by the special needs community. Devotion is the theme of the exhibition which features both the original and interpreted versions of the artwork. The innovative narrative paintings for David"LEBO" LeBatard will splash across a 29'wall in the main gallery. Ed King and Jacklyn Laflamme's joyful color saturated...

      The Sincerity project is a truly amazing idea - and the brainchild of Jill Slaughter. I am thrilled that some of the children from our UCP program are involved. On a personal note, I am so pleased that I was asked as an artist to participate as well. What a great community art event which encompasses so many from the art community to share ideas and the beauty of the arts with all. -Thanks to Pembroke Pines and Jill Slaughter for having the insight and courage to begin this noteworthy event.       I was able to attend the Studio 18 showing a solo exhibition for one dominican artist, Ruben ubeira. His paintings have such balance and contrast. There is a harmony yet a sadness to his pieces. This particular installation showcased the usage of skateboards, bricks and other mixed media. Fantastic!! Definitely worth seeing if you ever get a chance . Collapse
