Pembroke Pines Theater for the Performing Arts

Pembroke Pines Theater of the Performing Arts is the oldest continuously operating Community Theater in Broward County. PPTOPA was founded fifteen years ago by a group of dedicated individuals whose goal was to provide low cost, high quality live theater for the Community. While technically an "amateur" company whose performers donate their time, PPTOPA productions routinely feature regional professional actors in its productions.

      The Show was great! It was Faithful To the Original without being "stodgy". The costumes, props and sets were excellent, and the production included about 10 children in the chorus who added so much... Expand

      The Show was great! It was Faithful To the Original without being "stodgy". The costumes, props and sets were excellent, and the production included about 10 children in the chorus who added so much to the performance. There was a small pit orchestra, consisting of keyboard (with multiple sounds), a flute, violin, and a drummer with a full kit, including a KETTLE DRUM! Although the overture was somewhat abbreviated, there was nothing cut from the opera itself. The ensemble pieces were especially well done, with all the original harmonies intact, and the choreography was spirited and fun. The Voices were good, but most of the singers did not have extensive training in this genre, so they sound more like Broadway than Operetta. The musicians and singers soldiered on through a brief power failure, and didn't miss a beat! Very Professional! I especially enjoyed the Duke's Update on his "Endorsement Song". Sir Gilbert would have been proud. Great performance, No Possible doubt whatever. Collapse
