Harvey W. Seeds Post 29
Close to the end of World War I, on the morning of July 16, 1918, on a sunny hillside in Chateau-Thierry, France, a well-thrown German grenade exploded over a machine gun emplacement, shattering it and taking the life of a handsome young man who was crouched nearby. His name was Harvey W. Seeds, son of Dr. and Mrs. J. B. Seeds of Miami, and he was the first Dade County doughboy to be killed in action in WWI. This meeting place honors his memory.
