Visitors to Design Fair at Gallery of Amazing Things will have the rare experience of viewing one the finest and most elusive of Leonardo da Vinci’s sculptured masterpieces to be publicly offered for sale this century
Inspired by da Vinci who is considered the father of design, Design Fair, which is scheduled for June 21 -23 in Dania Beach, will be a weekend of discovery like no other organizers said
“We invite the public to see and purchase impressive collections of contemporary art, estate jewelry, watches, vintage Louis Vuitton trunks sculpture, natural history, antiques, posh lighting, furniture, home décor and much more—all with an emphasis on great design,” said Arron Rimpley of The Gallery of Amazing Things
50-million-year-old fossil murals, maritime artifacts, aviart, antique ceramics, high porcelain, monumental crystals from the caves of South America, World War II naval binoculars are among the other wonders from around the world that will be on display
The highlight of Design Fair will be the unveiling of a limited edition bronze sculpture derived from a rare wax model carved by the engineer of the Italian Renaissance, Leonardo da Vinci
“In the chronicles of world history, few names command the worldwide recognition, respect, and awe as inventor, architect, astronomer, scientist and artist Leonardo da Vinci,” said Gregg Whittecar of The Gallery of Amazing Things “Recent exhibitions of da Vinci’s work have caused an international groundswell of interest in Leonardo’s sculptural works”
Da Vinci’s “Horse and Rider” was originally inherited by Leonardo’s star pupil, Francesco Metzi The sculpture languished in a Swiss vault until 1985 when it was inspected by the greatest Leonardo da Vinci expert in the world, Professor Carlo Pedretti, best known as the Armand Hammer Director of Leonardo Studies at the University of California in Los Angeles Upon extensive examination of the sculpture model, Professor Pedrettie stated in writing: "In my opinion, this wax model is by Leonardo himself"

Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale, Horvitz Auditorium
As one of the world's preeminent photographers, Sally Mann creates artwork that challenges viewers' values and moral attitudes Described by Time magazine as "America's greatest photographer", she first came to international prominence in 1992 with Immediate Family, a series of complex and enigmatic pictures of her three children What Remains—Mann's recent series on the myriad aspects of death and decay—is the subject of this eponymously titled documentary Filmed at her Virginia farm, Mann is surrounded by her husband and now-grown children, and her willingness to reveal her artistic process allows the viewer to gain exclusive entrance to her world Never one to compromise, she reflects on her own personal feelings about mortality as she continues to examine the boundaries of contemporary art Spanning five years, What Remains contains unbridled access to the many stages of Mann's work, and is a rare glimpse of an eloquent and brilliant artist

Region4: Transformation Through Imagination, an innovative and powerful new art exhibition, The exhibition features works by seventeen artists who sought to transform the reality of the Gainesville Cabot/Koppers EPA Superfund site into images that convey both the history of the problem and the possibilities for restoration and positive change The artists used scientific data from the site to create their art works, often forming partnerships with scientists who served as consultants on the projects The artists have also worked to portray the concerns, hopes, beliefs and experiences of the people whose lives have been affected by the site over the past thirty years Those who are interested in environmental and social justice issues, as well as art enthusiasts, will find this exhibit compelling and fascinating

National Art Exhibitions by the Mentally Ill Holds 25th Annual Exhibition in Broward County
World and Eye Arts Centers' mission of revealing world issues through the arts is joined by NAEMI (the National Art Exhibits by the Mentally Ill) for this unique exhibit of depth and power Featuring six Hispanic artists, “Exceptionally Abled” shows the work of people who despite the handicap of mental illness have become extraordinary artists The mentally ill are walking next to us as co-workers, friends, sometimes in our own families and yet there is still shame and stigma from the outside world When looking at the work, however, no viewer will be able to deny the skill and sensitivity of the artists involved Perhaps the pain endured allows the artists to be unafraid to reveal parts of the human condition Juan Martin, the founder of NAEMI and collector of this work states “our ultimate goal is to help these artists be recognized and fight the stigma that so often accompanies mental illness Featured in the show are Ramon Losa, Isaac Crespo, Gabriel Fernandez, Sabastian Ferreira, Peyi and Boris Lopez All artworks featured in the exhibition will be available for sale, with the proceeds benefiting the artists and NAEMI’s goals of helping artists from around the world

Girls' Club presents Following the Line, featuring works by thirty international artists using hand-drawn line as the primary unit of expression Curated by Miami gallerist Carol Jazzar, the works in Following the Line are created in many mediums, including graphite, ink, colored pencil, layered mylar, etching, aquatint, lithography and hand-drawn animation

Manifesting the close connection to the artist’s hand and thought, drawings have historically been defined as intimate Some are smaller in scale Some are conceived as preparatory to final works in other media Drawings may commit fleeting, ephemeral concepts to paper, itself a less permanent support The persistent vitality of drawing today, developing alongside high tech digital and moving image media, will be emphasized Linear works that owe their inspiration to drawing will craft an “expanded” definition of drawing in use today

A catalog designed by Augusto Mendoza will accompany the exhibition and includes essays by curator Carol Jazzar, independent curator and writer Sue Spaid, and poetry by Denise Duhamel

A year-long schedule of artist talks, workshops and film screenings invite the public to share Girls' Club's investigation of drawing in contemporary art For details of events visit: http://girlsclubcollectionorg/events

It's a natural history epic It's a compelling detective story It's a scientific adventure at its best It took Dr Fred Urquhart almost 40 years to discover the monarch butterflies' secret hideaway and prove the most incredible migration on Earth Following the year-long annual migration cycle of the butterflies, the award-winning production team filmed hundreds of millions of monarchs in their remote wintering sanctuaries in Mexico in 2011 and again in 2012 and also along their migratory routes from Canada, across the US and into Mexico The IMAX 3D technology immerses you in the astounding migration experience as two generations of the butterflies migrate north and then a Super Generation miraculously finds its way from Canada to a few isolated mountaintops in Mexico - to a place it has never been!
