Founded by conductor and pianist Mikhail Pletnev in 1990, the Russian National Orchestra (RNO) has become "the most important cultural story of our time" (International Piano) and has gone on to achieve major international renown. ClassicsToday has called the Orchestra "as close to perfect as one could hope for." London's Evening Standard says they play "with such captivating beauty that the audience gave an involuntary sigh of pleasure." Playing frequently in the key capitols of Europe, Asia, and the Americas, the RNO has gained a reputation for establishing innovation and excellence as its two primary hallmarks.

Gramophone magazine called the Orchestra's first CD release of music by Tchaikovsky "an awe-inspiring experience; should human beings be able to play like this?" More than 70 recordings have followed since, including a charity recording of Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf, which won a 2004 GRAMMY® Award. Experience a Russian National Orchestra concert and it's easy to understand why the Miami Herald called the RNO "a living symbol of the best in Russian art."
