The Old Dillard Museum presents “The Cannonball Birthday Concert” featuring Nat Adderley Jr. as the final concert in the 2012 Cannonball Jazz Series. Nephew of legendary jazz saxophonist Julian “Cannonball” Adderley, pianist Nat Adderely , Jr. is best known for writing and arranging Luther Vandross songs, including his first top 20 pop hit, “Stop to Love,” “Wait for Love,” and the Grammy?nominated “Give Me the Reason.” Adderley has also writen, produced and arranged songs for Beyonce Knowles, Kirk Whalum, Natalie Cole, Johnny Gill and Aretha Franklin.

Cannonball Adderley is remembered for his 1966 single "Mercy Mercy Mercy", a crossover hit on the pop charts, and for his work with jazz great Miles Davis. Early in his career, Cannonball taught music and directed the school band at Dillard High School, Fort Lauderdale’s first school for African-American students and the current site of the Old Dillard Museum.
