Meir Martin, a local Israeli artist, will be the featured artist for the months of August & September at the Main Broward County Library; On August 8, 2012 from 5-8pm at 100 S. Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301, Martin will be revealing the world’s largest surreal picture of the Everglades from sunrise to sunrise (24 hours of wildlife activity) that measures 40 feet long! Featuring the most beautiful skies and wildlife activity of the Everglades, Martin’s ‘Surreal Everglades’ will be a spectacle to see! Martin has recently applied to break a Guinness World Record for the largest picture of the Everglades ever made.
Martin will also be exhibiting his largest circular artwork installed in his one of a kind frame that stands at 9 feet tall and weighs over 1000lbs. All of the wood used is reclaimed from Marble facilities all throughout Miami. Martin is an avid lover of all things nature and his artwork is mainly comprised of the avian species and Florida Wetlands such as the Everglades. “My vision is to have my audience truly feel like they are in the environment that I create and to feel that they are in nature” says Martin. And, because he believes strongly in saving the environment, Martin creates his own surreal frames made from reclaimed wood. With carpenter skills, Martin creates magnificent and enormous structures to house his artwork and they are all created with Mahogany, oak and other exotic reclaimed woods.
