In conjunction with the Museum's current exhibition, Max Miller: Final Mourner's Kaddish - 333 Days in Painting, Next@19th’s Guava Rugelach music program and The Miami Symphony Orchestra (MISO) co-present a special night of Kaddish interpreted by celebrated, local composers. The Mourner's Kaddish has inspired many concert works that bring a private expression of sorrow and devotion to the public stage. Aron Zelkowicz, principal cellist of MISO and director of the Pittsburgh Jewish Music Festival, discusses how different composers interpret this familiar prayer. He is joined by violinist Daniel Andai, concertmaster of the Miami Symphony Orchestra, and pianist Ciro Fodere, in live performances and recorded examples of music by Salamone Rossi, Leonard Bernstein, Maurice Ravel, Leo Zeitlin and others.
