Gallery 101 is pleased to present an exhibition of new paintings by Jim Bobick.

Inspired by the work of the color field painters of the 1950’s and 1960’s and armed with a keen interest in the romantic landscape paintings of the 19th century, Jim’s canvases seek to simplify the patterns in a traditional landscape in a way that transcends the physical and draws us into the spiritual.

Lush and densely layered, Jim Bobick’s oils overflow with sensuous color, bold gesture and a soothing energy. With a Zen like sensibility, Bobick’s paintings evoke a Rothko-esk sense of balance and stillness while giving a contemporary nod to the sublime atmospheric washes of William Turner.

Jim Bobick has exhibited in galleries throughout the United States for over eights years. This exhibition marks his first solo show in Fort Lauderdale. His work has been reviewed in numerous publications including the Baltimore Sun. The artist lives and works in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
