The Mercedes-Benz Fort Lauderdale EcoDiscovery Center Grand Opening Gala is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 5, 2011 in the new, 34,000 square foot, EcoDiscovery Center. A major expansion of the Museum of Discovery and Science, the new EcoDiscovery Center, which more than doubles the Museum’s current exhibit space, offers more dynamic hands-on explorations. Guests can try out the Everglades Airboat Adventure, experience hurricane force winds in the Storm Center, dig for fossils alongside a 50 foot prehistoric megalodon, and enjoy the playful antics of North American River Otters in their two-story indoor/outdoor habitat. They will also tour the new Mangurian Foundation Lifelong Learning Center and the Keller Science Theater.

 

The festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the Wells Fargo Cocktail Reception that includes an open bar generously provided by Southern Wine & Spirits, accompanied by a unique and impressive Silent Auction. After cocktails, guests will enjoy an elegant dinner and a live auction where bidders can vie for prizes of ultimate luxury. Surprise vignettes will punctuate the evening and delight guests to ensure an unforgettable evening. A rockin’ dance party will cap off the evening. Over 600 guests will be in attendance representing over 50 of the leading South Florida corporations, foundations and individual Museum supporters.

 

The 2011 EcoDiscovery Grand Opening Gala co-chairs include: Tom Angelo of Angelo & Banta, Katy and Jon Ferrando of AutoNation, Doreen and Keith Koenig of City Furniture, and Jamie and Terry Stiles of Stiles Corporation. Together, they will head up a distinguished list of Museum trustees, business leaders and society leaders hosting this year’s gala.

 

Tables for 10 guests are available for $5,000, and VIP tables of 12 are available for $10,000. A limited number of individual tickets are available for $500 per person. All proceeds will benefit the Museum of Discovery and Science.
