    Broward Cultural Division, ArtServe, Inc., Nova Southeastern University and The Grantsmanship Center present a two-day workshop: Social Enterprise for Nonprofits on Tuesday, September 20 and Wednesday, September 21, 2011, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The workshop will be held in Room 2053 of the Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center, Nova Southeastern University, 3100 Ray Ferrero, Jr., Blvd., in Fort Lauderdale. This workshop will benefit cultural nonprofit organization board members and development staff who must raise funds; artists and creative entrepreneurs; and members and the cultural community



    Presented by The Grantsmanship Center, Social Enterprise for Nonprofits teaches participants how to champion the venture development process within their own organization. This practical cutting-edge curriculum designed to meet the special challenges facing 21st century nonprofits will teach participants how market-based activities can drive one’s organization to improve the services it already delivers making it more efficient and more competitive. Topics include: How to approach social enterprise in a way that supports your organization’s mission; How to evaluate a social enterprise opportunity; and How to develop, grow and diversify an earned income program. Participants will also participate in the development of a business plan - including market research, pricing strategies, operational plans, and financial analysis.



    Rolfe Larson has more than 20 years experience managing and advising organizations in both the for-pro?t and nonpro?t sectors. He has served as an executive at Minnesota Public Radio and the board of the Social Enterprise Alliance; he is a professor of marketing at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis and holds an MBA from Yale University. He is the author of Venture Forth!, widely recognized as the best layman’s manual on the topic of nonprofit enterprise.



    Enrollment is limited to 30 participants in order to allow maximum interaction with the instructors and with the other participants.



    Broward County Cultural Council is offering tuition assistance to Broward County cultural arts organizations, artists, and creative businesses that complete the two-day program. This scholarship availability is on a first- come, first- served basis. For more information on scholarships, register and reserve your seat.

        A reduced fee of $100 per person, of which, $50 of the registration fee will be returned to those individuals who COMPLETE the two-day program.
