    It’s called The Red Eye.

It fuses art, poetry, installations, live artistic performances, short films, music, street artists and whatever else can be classified as “art.” For one night only, the public is invited to view a myriad of artistic media under one roof on Friday, July 22 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

ArtServe and media sponsor New Times will host the event at 1350 East Sunrise Boulevard, in Fort Lauderdale. The purpose of the Red Eye is to create an innovative and exciting experience that adds a twist to the conventional gallery exhibit. The Red Eye is the only exhibit on the ArtServe schedule that entangles gallery art with street art, bringing attention to beauty in the eccentric and raising awareness to a new age of artistic expression through dance, music, fashion, installations, and visual arts.

The 6th annual Red Eye extravaganza is THE MOST anticipated summer event in south Florida. Art Institute Fort Lauderdale student Mary O'Hara accepted the position of event coordinator as part of Art Serves community partnership and mission to promote local and emerging artists. “We’ve uncovered an overwhelming amount of talent in the underground scene. The Red Eye keeps growing and now sets the bar for summer cultural events" said ArtServe President, Earl Bosworth, "and with Mary on board, we are looking at tapping into a whole new group of young artists. The energy surrounding this event is infectious!" ArtServe again opens its entire 20,000 square feet of space for one night only with paintings, fashion, installation pieces, short film premieres, an spoken word room hosted by Renda Writer; street artists, body painting, dance, sculptures, a live graffiti battle nicknamed "Cans to Canvas”, a fashion expo unfolding to local live band performances, featuring Sunfest alumni Speaking Volumes and two-time Grammy nominated Elsten Torres (New Times 2011 "Best of" Latin singer). Premiering this year is our first ever "game art" room with a live gaming competition hosted by American Intercontinental University. Admission $5.00

This one-of-a-kind exposé runs from July 1st to July 29, 2011 displaying 2D and 3D visual artwork, jewelry, and installations.

Other Sponsors and community partners for the event include:
Audacity Recording Studio, American Intercontinental University, Jerry’s Artarama, Resurrection Drums, The Art Institute Fort Lauderdale, WeMerge Magazine, Signs in a Flash, Tijuana Flats, Big C's, Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, Publix, Body and Soul Dance Theatre, The Green Room, Russian Standard Vodka
