To further engage its patrons in The Art of Caring: A Look at Life through Photography exhibition, Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale, Nova Southeastern University is hosting the Be Inspired! project. After viewing the insightful and powerful exhibition, patrons are invited to create and submit a written and/or 2-D artistic response. Museum fans and friends will vote on the submissions on Facebook. The selected works will be on view at the Museum from September 15 until the closing of The Art of Caring on September 25th.

The renowned Art of Caring is an entertaining, thought-provoking and inspiring display of over 200 photographs spanning more than a 60-year time period. The exhibition explores seven themes: Children & Family, Love, Wellness, Caregiving & Healing, Aging, Disaster, and Remembering.

All submissions, along with the entry form, which can be downloaded at www.moafl.org, must be emailed to vbillig@moafl.org. Written responses may be emailed as a Word document or PDF. Artwork should be emailed as a high-res image. No more than two entries per person will be accepted. Partially completed entry forms will not be accepted. The deadline to enter is Friday, Sept. 2.

Written responses may be in the form of a short essay, journal entry, or poem, and should be no more than two pages. Artworks must be 2-dimensional (no sculpture or 3-D installations.) Acceptable mediums are photography, painting, drawing, mixed media and video. Artworks must not belarger than 48”x48”. If chosen, 2-D artwork must be delivered or mailed to the Museum in proper packaging or wrapping.

All responses will be uploaded to the Museum’s Be Inspired! at the MoA|FL Facebook page at www.facebook.com/BeInspiredProject. There, Facebook fans and friends will vote on their favorites. Works that best represent the scope of the project will be selected for the Museum’s temporary exhibition.

“All Together Now,” the Museum’s dynamic group of young adults ages 21-39 with an interest in visual arts and design, will sponsor a Sept. 15 opening reception for the exhibition.

“We’re pleased to further engage Museum patrons in The Art of Caring, which provides a fascinating opportunity to display how art reflects life,” said Irvin Lippman, the Museum’s Executive Director.

“With the Be Inspired! project, patrons can essentially be the artist by creating their personal interpretations of the exhibition.”

WHEN: Entries accepted now through Friday, Sept. 2, 2011.

HOW: All entries must be emailed to vbillig@moafl.org. Entries should not be sent to the Museum.
