Of Gods and Men: French Christian monks live in harmony with their Muslim brothers in a monastery perched in the mountains of North Africa in the 1990s. When a crew of foreign workers is massacred by an Islamic fundamentalist group, fear sweeps though the region. The army offers them protection, but the monks refuse. Should they leave? Despite the growing menace in their midst, they slowly realize that they have no choice but to stay… come what may. This film is loosely based on the life of the Cistercian monks of Tibhirine in Algeria, from 1993 until their kidnapping in 1996.
Queen Tp Play:Helene is a French maid is quietly resigned to her three job life of making up hotel rooms, caring for her family and as a housekeeper for an American doctor, now an ex-patriot living in France. At the hotel she becomes increasingly aware of a romantic couple on holiday – who when not between the sheets, enjoy each other through a game of chess. Helene becomes fascinated soon devotes an extraordinary amount of her time thinking about a game she knows nothing.
She is consumed with learning the game and will stop at nothing until that task is conquered. Through this obsession, perhaps the pages of her life have not been written. Will she still remain content to change sheets, cook meals, wash clothes; will she be frustrated by her station in life and continue to lead a silent life of longing for more; or will she find her true joie de vivre?
