Get a behind-the-scenes look at Susan Lee Chun's process, enjoy informal dialogue with the artist about her work and contemporary art in general.
Miami artist Susan Lee-Chun’s work crosses many boundaries, from fashion to performance, from video and sculpture to stagecraft. In any medium, she develops and disappears completely into her many alter-egos armed with an unflinching sense of humor. She has exhibited and performed widely in the U.S. and abroad: Herning Kunstmuseum (Denmark), Vienna Biennale (2006), Pacific Asia Museum (LA), The Moore Space and Museum of Contempo...rary Art (Miami). Lee-Chun has attended residencies at the Bemis Center in Omaha, NE and Threewalls in Chicago, IL. Her work is in public collections, including the Miami Art Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami. She earned her BFA from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and an MA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is represented by David Castillo Gallery in Miami.
In conjunction with Susan’s Artists in Action! presentation, Girls’ Club is publishing the Marching Sioux resin/enamel figurine with a rubber stamp that quotes Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way” chorus. Measuring 6 1/2” high, the figurine is available for $35 each, from an edition of 25. Perfect for any desk!
