Black Florida History Exhibit Opening Lecture

An opening reception will be held in honor of Dr. Marvin Dunne's exhibition on Black Florida History. Historian and author Dr. Marvin Dunn will give a lecture on his background, research and the exhibit at the reception. Dr. Dunne documents the contributions of African-Americans in Florida from the Colonial era to civil rights era, covering the topics of slavery, anti-black violence, education, black Seminoles, the black church and blacks' influence in developing Florida. A retired assistant professor of psychology and former chairperson of the Department of Psychology at Florida International University, Dr. Dunn is the author of "Black Miami in the Twentieth Century," published in 1997.

 

The exhibit will be on display until February 2011. The gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, noon - 6 p.m. The gallery is closed on Sundays.
