Seminar: Online Fundraising and Social Media - The Fund Raising School/ The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University

Broward Cultural Division, ArtServe, Inc. and The Fund Raising School invite the area’s cultural non-profit managers, board members and development staff who must raise funds for their arts and cultural organizations to a seminar. Online Fundraising and Social Media will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010, from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm at ArtServe Inc, 1350 East Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.

Presented by The Fund Raising School associated with The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, Online Fundraising and Social Media is a one-day course that teaches participants how to use e-mail, online tools, and social networking sites effectively as part of their friend-raising and fundraising strategies. Participants will review the array of tools available for connecting with donors online, including e-mail, websites, Facebook and Twitter, and examine what each tool will and will not do. Participants will acquire knowledge and practical advice that will enable them to create a solid e-strategy for building relationships and donations for their organizations. It will also guide participants with focus on what to think about before committing to a social media campaign for non-profits.

Jeff Stanger, development director for The Salvation Army in Indiana, will be presenting the workshop. He has been with The Salvation Army for seven years and serves as a consultant to nonprofits, specializing in online fundraising, social media, and grant writing. An alumnus of The Fund Raising School, he has spoken to a wide variety of nonprofit and small business organizations about social media and fundraising. He is also an editor and contributor to BlueTrolleyPress.com, an online magazine geared towards non-profit fundraising professionals. The faculty creates a vibrant, hands-on learning atmosphere to make the course rich and enjoyable.

Dedicated to the advancement of ethical fundraising, The Fund Raising School helps thousands of fundraising professionals around the world achieve new levels of success. For individual attention, class size is limited to 40 participants to allow students the opportunity to have maximum interaction with the instructor and with the other participants. The registration fee for the workshop is $35 per person, and includes light refreshments. Free parking is available at ArtServe. Registrants will receive a copy of The Fund Raising School’s coursebook developed for this program. The faculty creates a vibrant, hands-on learning atmosphere to make the course rich and enjoyable.
