FESTIVALS & OUTDOOR EVENTS

Delou Africa, Inc. will host their inaugural “African Diaspora Dance and Drum Festival of Florida, Friday, August 6th-8th, 2010 at the Little Haiti Cultural Center (212-260 NE 59th Terrace, Miami, Fl 33137). This three day cultural family event will engage the community with African dance, drum, rhythms, movements history and culture. The festival will feature native traditional world renowned West African dance masters and drummers/musicians along with local artists. There will be a host of activities for the entire family including workshops in African dance, drum, balafon, songs, shekere and Yoga. In addition, there will be a raffle drawing for a chance to win two round trip tickets to South Africa, a free symposium on HIV AIDS, free dance and drum workshop will be provided for children under age 13. African folk storytelling, face-painting, a cultural vendor marketplace, rites of passage, health/wellness screenings and more.There will also be a grand performance concert by the invited guest artist along with Delou Africa Dance Ensemble, Children of Kuumba and other local artist. An individual will be chosen to receive Delou Africa Cultural Community Outreach Development Award (C.C.O.D.).
