TRASH-2-ART!!!! AN ART EXHIBITION CELEBRATING THE CREATIVITY OF REPURPOSED MATERIALS! Trash-2-Art will celebrate artistic creations that have given new life to trash-bound materials. Theme: Trash-2-Art promotes the creative reuse of materials such as fabric, tile, Styrofoam, scrap plastic, and wire that are not generally targeted in mainstream recycling programs. These materials are available to Trash-2-Art participants at Trash to Treasure, Broward County’s own non-profit creative reuse center. Participants must register at Trash to Treasure during open hours (Fridays 2-7; Saturdays 10-3) by April 30, 2010, or at ArtServe on May 1, 2010. Artwork must contain at least 75% of materials collected from the Trash to Treasure Creative Reuse Center. Artists may submit up to 3 pieces totaling no more than approximately forty square feet. Artwork to be hung must be prewired for hanging. No saw-toothed hangers will be accepted. Artwork will be judged on the most creative reuse of materials. Prizes will be awarded in five categories: students, k-5, 6-8, 9-12; adult (amateur); and adult (professional). An overall “Best in Show” prize will also be awarded. Trash to Treasure reserves the right to decline artwork for the show.
