Ballet Etudes Company’s 2009-2010 season will culminate in its Royal Ballet Gala featuring a Grand Suite from Don Quixote, an act from Sleeping Beauty, and a scene from Romeo & Juliet. The Gala will also include the Company premiere of the pas de deux from the ballet La Esmeralda. International guest artists will headline the program, along with over 40 dancers from Ballet Etudes. Don Quixote Grand Suite, staged by Director Susana Prieto and Choreographer Peter La Fox, will be a shortened version of the original three-act ballet. World-renowned Cuban ballerina and Ballet Etudes Principal Dancer Dagmar Moradillos will dance the role of Kitri, and Guest Artist Jose Rodriguez, from Ballet Nacional de Puerto Rico, will appear as Basil. Act III from The Sleeping Beauty depicts the wedding of Aurora to Prince Florimund. This act includes the well-known Fairy Pas de Trois, the dance of "Puss in Boots and the White Cat," and the Bluebird Pas de Deux which will be performed by Taís Diana and Alysson Rocha. Returning Guest Artists Michelle Saramago and Fernando Maciel, from Brazil, will appear as Aurora and Prince Florimund as well as Romeo and Juliet. The Balcony Scene, where the couple declares their eternal love, is the famous centerpiece of Romeo and Juliet.
