Archbishop McCarthy High School Spring Concert

The Archbishop McCarthy High School?s Fine Arts Department will present its Spring Concert on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 in the Student Activity and Performing Arts Center. Under the direction of Ms. Darlene Fontus, Band Director, performances by the Maverick Sound, including the Jazz and Concert Bands, will feature a selection of classical and contemporary music. Directed by Ms. Beatriz Malnic, the Maverick Singers? repertoire will consist of Mozart?s “Dona Nobis Pacem,” Copland?s “At the River,” Freddie Mercury?s “Somebody to Love,” and Leonard Cohen?s “Hallelujah.” The audience will also have an opportunity to enjoy presentations by the Winter Guard plus student performers representing the Music Appreciation, Beginning Band and Drum Technique classes. A special performance by the newly created Chorus Music Class will include a medley of popular show tunes. The community is invited to attend thisannual event. Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for seniors and students under 14 years old. Ten percent of the admission proceeds will benefit the Maverick Sound?s community service project “Florida Youth Orchestra?s Music STEPS” that provides at- risk students in grades 2 to 5 an opportunity to receive music instruction and instruments for free.
