Directed by Jennifer Smith Decastroverde. Sonia has been hiding a secret while living quietly as a mother in a Midwestern suburb. She has spent her life trying to forget what her parents did to her, holding on to an unforgiving resentment against them. Not until her son suddenly triggers her painful memories can Sonia begin to understand why her own parents did and what they did. Following 9/11 her son announces his intent to enlist in the Marines and fight in Afghanistan. Devastated by his decision and the threat of danger, her troubled past comes back to haunt her. Playwright Melinda Lopez illustrates how this Cuban mother and son struggle in a showdown that can only be resolved by uncovering and reliving the painful memories of her past.
