Green Day is an American rock trio formed in 1987. The band has consisted of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool for the majority of its existence. The band's eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown was released in May of 2009. Green Day has sold over 22 million records in the United States and has won three Grammy Awards for Best Alternative Album, Best Rock Album and Record of the Year.
