Broward County Main Library will host bestselling author Jilliane Hoffman in a discussion of her new book, Plea of Insanity. Before Jilliane Hoffman began her career as a felony prosecutor with the Miami-Dade State Attorney's office, she came face-to-face with the frightening and misunderstood disease of schizophrenia. An unthinkable tragedy befell the family of a close college friend whose sibling had been diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic. While in the throes of a psychotic delusion, a horrific, senseless crime was committed and, in an instant, lives were forever changed. Her friend's story and the tragic medical history that plagued her family haunted Hoffman for years until she finally decided to write about this damaging disease in Plea of Insanity.
