Opening Weekend Activities - Monster vs. Aliens
March 27-March 29, 2009
Add Review/CommentIn Monsters vs. Aliens, Dr. Cockroach is an oversized and amazingly intelligent cockroach who helps the monsters as they battle aliens attacking Earth. Stop by the Museum's bug collection for a chance to meet a real cockroach up close and personal. During this presentation, a Museum Educator will teach visitors everything they ever wanted to know about bugs and then some. What are the chances that Earth will be contacted by alien beings from outer space? During this presentation, resident physical scientist Hiram Bleecker will explore the reaches of space and look for the answer to that very question. Participants will also learn about the evolution of organisms here on earth that may look alien because of the unique adaptations that enable them to survive in extreme environments. In the film, Monsters vs. Aliens, there are some pretty interesting characters, with one of those characters being Bob the Blob. He is a slimy monster that was created after a chemistry experiment went very wrong. During this activity, kids can create their own Bob the Blob and learn about the science of slime and polymers.
