Pedro Reyes - 47 Undertakings
Presented by Bass Museum of Art
December 4, 2008 - March 1, 2009
Trained as an architect, Mexican artist Pedro Reyes explores the ways in which a space can be created to combine utopian ideas as well as function. Sculptures, drawings, models, props and video footage reveal the progression of the artist's conceptual strategies that precede the final product. These works serve as a non-hierarchical collection of fragments, illustrating ideas related to social psychology, economy, structural engineering and architecture. This exhibition abruptly halts the process of viewing art and substitutes it with participation into the evolution of the artist's work.
