Layered images and sound come out of her interest of the juxtaposition between the rational and the idea of truth, with the irrational and the idea of the absurd. Her sources vary from current social events to historical and art historical references and literature, with a slight nod to everyday life. Holohan intentionally uses distinctively simple materials and methods to capture and investigate these images by giving a sense of familiarity where process and handwork is evident.=0D=0A=Holohan will be presenting animated video works inspired by the four classic elements of nature: earth, air, water, and fire. Layered into the animation will be hand produced marks, forms and shapes, referencing experimental film such as Harry Smith, “Early Abstractions,” and the work of Stan Brackage.
