This will be one of only two North American concerts he and the Bachiana Filarmônica will be presenting during September 2011. Joao Carlos Martins and Bachiana Filarmonica present Vivaldi's Concerto for Four Violins featuring violinist Elisa Fukuda, J.S. Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 3 as well as works by Brazilian composers Heitor Villa-Lobos, Guerra Peixe, and Mateus Araujo showcasing how African rhythms have influenced Brazilian music since 18th century. During the Brazilian works, the Bachiana Filarmônica will be joined by 9 percussionists from 'Vai-Vai', one of Brazil's top competing Samba Schools.
